Youth Program Assistant
Position Summary:
The Program Assistant works closely with the Youth & Outreach Coordinator, the Program Coordinator and the Program Director in both youth education programs and youth outreach coordination.
Reports to: Program Director
Classification: AmeriCorps, Full Time, 40 hours
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work in partnership with the Youth & Outreach Coordinator, the Program Coordinator and Program Director in running youth programs; including Earn-a-Bike, Partnerships, Street Burners, and Summer Camps. (35%)
- Help teach Earn-a-Bike classes and partnership programs
- Co-Lead bike rodeos, rides, trips and Street Burner activities
- Co-Lead drop-in Earn-a-Bike hours
- Compile monthly reports to the Program Coordinator on all activities
- With the Program Coordinator, support needs for youth participation in our programs. (35%)
- Organize activities for youth that build a base of support for Bike Works (question of the week, etc.)
- Work with the Program Coordinator to determine needs and assessment of bikes
- Help the Program Coordinator check-over completed bikes for community redistribution
- Help to create a welcoming and safe environment for youth at Bike Works
- Increase outreach efforts within the community to promote programs especially among low-income youth and new immigrant communities. (25%)
- Assist Youth & Outreach Coordinator in creating a recruitment strategy that will increase participation by local youth from low-income, minority and immigrant communities
- Within AmeriCorps and other local bike organizations, recruit and develop relationships with strategic community organizations who are interested in our programs
- Help to promote programs to youth in the community

Commitment to social justice.
Flexibility and sense of humor.
